I've heard of the following incident slightly anecdotaly, but feel it worthy of raising for attention and comment...
The short version is that there was a 'one under' on the Picc at Russell Square a few days ago - not uncommon in itself I agree - but the disturbing thing is that apparently it took 22 mins to discharge Traction Current - through a variety of factors, many of which seem to revolve round shortcomings in the ERC.
It's suggested to me that the control computer crashed, communication was lost, and the last resort of the T/Op involved laying SCD's (as trained to do) resulted in these becoming welded to the TC rails.
Any comments?

just a comment but why wasnt the tunnel telephone lines shorted out so this would trip the breaker in the sub station?
